- Subject: Connectionless packet frame generator
- To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu
-
- I would like to put together a microcontroller for sending
- "connectionless packets" (see AX.25 protocol in 1994 ARRL Handbook)
- for automatic weather data. Since the controller would drive a
- 1200 modem directly, a fair amount of detailed information is
- required to bit-bang to create the proper packet framing.
-
- Two immediate questions I have:
-
- 1. What is the ISO 3309 algorithm for calculating the 16 bit
- Frame-check sequence? Anyone have this standard handy? Is
- it a CRC?
-
- 2. What segments of the frame can/should be omitted for the
- connectionless mode of operation?
-
- If you have designed this kind of packet generator (common in
- amateur high altitude balloons, satellites, beacons, etc.) or
- know someone who has and is on the Internet, please email me:

- Calling all brains! O.k. I am looking for information on any type of digital
- video modes. Slow scan, fast scan, I have heard the rumors but now it is time
- for facts. Are there any engineers out there who have digitized video and sent
- it over 56k lines. What is state of the art? What is on the edge? I am setting
